A first flight over the sea, a first snorkel and a ferry that ran late, with a trip coordinator who never sounded worried.

Nervous swimmers
Neither of us swims. When Lavanya read the words snorkelling on the itinerary she laughed and said we could skip it. On day three the instructor put us in life vests, held our hands and we looked down at a reef full of fish. I forgot to be afraid.

The late ferry
One ferry was delayed by two hours because of the weather. Our coordinator rang before we even noticed, told us where to wait and had a cold drink waiting when we arrived. It turned a stressful moment into a non-event.

The last night
We had dinner on the sand on Neil Island with a lantern and the tide coming in. Ten years of marriage and we had never eaten dinner that slowly. We came home planning the next ten.
