A 6,400 sq ft stitching unit with a north-light roof, finished before the export season.
The brief
A column-free stitching floor, natural light without direct sun, three-phase power for sixty machines and a loading bay that a truck could reverse into without a tow.
A knitwear exporter needed a new stitching floor ready before the autumn order book opened. Working backwards from that date, we phased the shell, roof and services so machines could be installed while the finishing crew was still on site.
Our approach
A steel-truss roof with north-facing saw-tooth glazing gave even daylight, and a raised plinth carried the electrical trenches. The whole programme was drawn as a single page and pinned in the site office, so every vendor could see when they were needed.
